The fascinating history of Britain will be revealed as you journey through spectacular countryside to Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, Wordworth's Lake District and historic Edinburgh


Day 1

London, Stonehenge, Bath and Bristol

Visit the historic stone monoliths at Stonehenge where pagans once worshiped before visiting the Georgian town of Bath. Visit the Roman baths from which the city derives its name

Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Pub Reception with a traditional pub meal. It’s the ideal opportunity to get to know your Travel Director and fellow travellers

Day 2

Bristol, Wedgwood and Chester

Visit the Wedgwood Visitor Centre for a Local Speciality demonstration and learn about the manufacture of porcelain in the region known as the potteries. See the medieval city walls at Chester and admire the Tudor architecture and the galleried shops known as the Rows

In your free time, explore the city and perhaps treat yourself to a traditional English Cream Tea, or join an excursion through the spectacular Horseshoe Pass to visit the Welsh town of Llangollen, home to the famous music Eisteddfod

Day 3

Chester, Grasmere, Gretna Green, 2 Nights in Edinburgh

Admire the views throughout the scenic Lake District. These scenes provided William Wordsworth with the inspiration to write the poem ‘Daffodils’. Visit the town of Grasmere to see St. Oswald’s church where the poet is buried

Stop at Gretna Green across the Scottish border, a town popular with eloping couples. Here the marriage ceremony was traditionally performed across a blacksmith’s anvil. Then travel to the historic capital, Edinburgh, your home for the next two nights

Day 4

Edinburgh Sightseeing and Free Time

This morning, discover the elegance of the city with your Local Guide on your included city sightseeing tour. See the Royal Mile in the Old Town. View the Palace of Holyroodhouse and Arthur’s Seat. Your guided visit inside of Edinburgh Castle is informative and engaging

Spend free time exploring on your own or join your Travel Director on an optional excursion to the Royal Yacht Britannia. Tonight, why not attend a lively Scottish dinner with traditional haggis and bagpipes

Day 5

Edinburgh, Alnwick and York

Visit the medieval market town of Alnwick. View the castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland, and the Tenantry Column, topped by the Percy Lion

Cross the river Tyne and continue to the Roman city of York. See York Minster and walk along the famous Shambles. Tonight, enjoy a memorable Be My Guest Farewell Dinner experience in an English country home

Day 6

York, Stratford-upon-Avon, London
