7 Day Tour of New Zealand’s North Island, Auckland, Rotorua and Wellington

Upon arrival in Auckland, the stunning “City of Sails,” you’ll begin your journey. Please aim to arrive before 4 p.m.

Later, we will meet for dinner at The Grill. Here, you’ll get to know your Travel Director and fellow travellers. Your director will introduce you to the city’s rich Maori history and diverse cultures.

Finally, prepare for your North Island adventure to begin.

First, you’ll explore New Zealand’s maritime heritage with a Local Specialist. You’ll take an exclusive tour of the New Zealand Maritime Museum.

After, we’ll begin a sightseeing tour of the city’s waterfront. We’ll visit Mission Bay, Bastion Point, and the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial. You will also see stunning views of the city skyline. Following the tour, you’ll have free time to explore on your own. For example, you could take a cruise on Auckland Harbour. Or, you could get a behind-the-scenes look at the All Blacks.

Today, you’ll journey from city life to the countryside. First, we’ll visit a working dairy farm for a unique experience. There, we’ll enjoy a delicious farm-to-table lunch. You can even roll up your sleeves and make your own butter.

Next, we will travel to Rotorua, a geothermal wonderland. We’ll visit Te Puia to support Maori artisans and see their work. After, we’ll explore the incredible Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve. Here, you will see geysers erupt and thermal springs shoot skyward.

Accommodation – Millennium Hotel Rotorua

Today, you can choose your own adventure. You have many options in Rotorua. For example, you can relax in the thermal waters of the Wai Ariki Hot Springs. Alternatively, you could ride an amphibious WWII-era Duck.

In the evening, you will dive deep into Maori culture. You will attend the Te Pa Tu Maori Experience. Here, you will learn about their traditions and history. The four-hour event includes food and celebration. You’ll enjoy seasonal canapés and a three-course dinner.

After leaving Rotorua, you will travel through pine forests and farmland. You will then witness the powerful Huka Falls, where the Waikato River plummets into a pool. Next, we will head to the heart of the North Island. Here, you will discover Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake. The surrounding landscape presents a striking contrast. You will see snowy mountains and vast forests.

Finally, after a full day of sightseeing, you will arrive in Wellington, New Zealand’s vibrant capital city. This city sits beautifully on a picturesque harbour.

Start your day in Wellington with a delicious coffee. This city is famous for its cool cafe culture. Afterward, we will embark on a city tour. We’ll see the iconic cable car and Parliament. You will also get great views from Mt. Victoria.

After the tour, the afternoon is yours to explore. We will end the tour at the Te Papa Tongarewa Museum. Therefore, you might choose to explore its exhibits. Alternatively, you could visit Zealandia, a unique ecosanctuary.

For dinner tonight, you will have many choices. The city offers countless restaurants and bars. Feel free to ask us for recommendations. You can also explore at your own pace.
