Travel on a captivating scenic drive through the idyllic Kent countryside. Verdant fields, quaint villages and rolling hills unfold before your eyes, setting the stage for the day’s adventures. You’ll make a delightful photo stop in the enchanting village of Chilham, a hidden gem boasting a historic square and timber-framed buildings that seem frozen in time. The tour’s highlight includes a visit to the iconic White Cliffs of Dover. Tour Schedule

The day kicks off with a brief, refreshing stop at Greenwich’s iconic 19th-century clipper, the Cutty Sark. Guests can grab a coffee (at their own expense) as their guide shares fascinating insights into Greenwich’s pivotal role in British history. Soon after, the tour departs London, following the ancient Roman road into Kent.

The journey then winds its way down picturesque leafy lanes through the Kent countryside, immersing visitors in the heart of the “Garden of England.” Guests will witness charming hop fields, sprawling farmlands, vibrant orchards, distinctive oast houses, and characterful villages. A delightful photo stop awaits in the beautiful village of Chilham, centered around a quaint square featuring a traditional English pub, a historic manor house, and a striking 15th-century church.

Next, the tour journeys onward to the globally renowned White Cliffs of Dover. Visitors can admire these majestic natural landmarks, celebrated for their profound symbolism in British and Allied military history. On a clear day, the coast of France is even visible, a mere 20 miles across the Channel! After a short scenic drive from the cliffs, the tour arrives at the formidable Dover Castle. Here, guests have the option to spend a couple of hours exploring this magnificent fortress (entry not included). They can wander through its sprawling grounds, ascend the mighty tower, stroll along its ancient walls, and delve into the castle’s integral role in battles spanning from the 11th century right through to WWII.

The journey then continues to the historic city of Canterbury. Upon arrival, visitors can stroll along its charming cobbled streets into the vibrant city heart. They will have a couple of hours of free time to explore at their leisure, perhaps choosing to visit the vast, historically rich, and stunning Canterbury Cathedral. The tour provides maps and recommendations to help guests make the most of their visit. Later, they can rejoin their guide for an insightful walking tour, delving deeper into Canterbury’s captivating history, hearing tales of its famous visitors, and uncovering some hidden secrets and passageways before the return journey to London commences.

  • Dover Castle: Tickets can be purchased from your guide on the day (cash only).
  • Canterbury Cathedral: Purchase tickets at the admissions desk on the day. 2024 prices are £17.00 for adults; ages 17 and under enter free.

  • 8:45 AM: Depart Central London for Cutty Sark (arrive 9:30 AM)
  • 9:55 AM: Depart Cutty Sark for Chilham (arrive 10:40 AM)
  • 11:15 AM: Depart Chilham for White Cliffs of Dover (arrive 12:00 PM)
  • 12:20 PM: Depart White Cliffs for Dover Castle (arrive 12:35 PM)
  • 3:00 PM: Depart Dover Castle for Canterbury (arrive 3:30 PM)
  • 6:30 PM: Depart Canterbury for London Eye (arrive 8:00 PM)

Important: All timings are estimates and depend on traffic. Usually return to London around 8:15 PM, dropping off at the original departure point near the London Eye. Exact return times cannot be guaranteed.

Departure Information:

Please arrive at your departure point at least 10 minutes before the 8:45 AM departure time.

Your pickup and drop-off location is next to the London Eye, on the corner of Belvedere Road and Chicheley Street, SE1 7PB. This is the designated bus stop for the London Eye.
