Day 1

The Glockenspiel clock, the town hall are the attractions that await you in Munich today. The capital of Bavaria with its ancient buildings and famous Marienplatz square. After settling in you will be given a guided tour of this centuries old city. In the evening enjoy sampling some beer in the world-renowned beer halls for which Bavaria is known for.

Day 2

This morning head northwards to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed town of Regensburg. Situated on the Danube River, and boasting a 16-arched bridge spanning the river, Regensberg is a well preserved medieval jewel. In the afternoon head towards the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague. This magical city has much to offer both culturally and architecturally with many wonderful and delicious places to dine on local fayre.

Beautiful Prague By Night
Join our Local Specialist for an evening introduction to this fairy-tale city by tram or mini-bus and with a little strolling. You’ll discover the magical Charles Bridge, enjoy a drink in one of the old town’s quaint restaurants while a musician entertains, journey through the Old Town and gaze at the panoramic views of the city.

Day 3

Today see the sights of the city with your knowledgeable and entertaining local guide. You will be given a broad insight into the history of the city. You will see St. Vitus Cathedral, entombed inside the 1,000-year-old Castle. Cross the River Vltava into the Old Town Square, characterised by the cobble stoned streets, here you will see the Astronomical Clock. In the afternoon, have some free time to wander the city at your leisure, check out the countries Czech crystal and peruse the local shops. Why not take a river cruise and see the city from the water? Relax and unwind at your hotel for the night.

Scenic Vltava Cruise with Lunch Or Dinner

Day 4

Travel through Moravia in the southern Czech Republic into Slovakia for the next leg of your tour. See the medieval town hall in the capital, Bratislava. Rejoin the River Danube in Budapest in the afternoon. You may like to consider taking dinner on a river cruise tonight and see this stunning city from the water.

Danube Cruise With Dinner
Enjoy a scenic cruise on our private boat on the romantic Danube. You’ll savour a tasty dinner selection of Hungarian specialities with drinks included and see Budapest’s spectacular illuminations, which give it the nickname ‘The Paris of the East’.

Day 5

A knowledgeable local guide will introduce you to the sights of the twin cities this morning giving you an intimate tour of Buda and Pest. You will see the Church of St. Matthias, Heroes’ Square and the Fisherman’s Bastion. You’ll be taken up to Gellert Hill to fully appreciate the tremendous views of the city and then you will be given free time to explore at your leisure. Freshen up at your hotel before a quest dinner of Hungarian cuisine.

Szentendre And Light Lunch
Explore more of Hungary and follow our guide out of bustling Budapest to the picturesque medieval town of Szentendre, set on the banks of the Danube and awash with ancient walls, cobbled streets and beautiful vistas. Here we’ll enjoy a Goulash cooking demonstration before sampling this essential Hungarian dish during lunch, which also includes cake and drinks. Afterwards, perhaps strike a bargain in the shops that sell beautiful Hungarian embroidery, ceramics and paprika.

Hungarian And Gypsy Folklore Show And Dinner
Get a taste of traditional music as you enjoy a Hungarian dinner with drinks in a local restaurant, while folk musicians serenade you at your table and reveal real gypsy folklore.

Visit To The Hungarian Parliament And Gundel
Take a guided tour of this magnificent Gothic Revival building, the most ornate state parliament in Europe. You’ll also have time to relax with a visit to the world famous Gundel restaurant for pancakes and drinks. When the Parliament is closed, we will visit the exquisite ‘Renaissance’ Opera House.

Day 6

You may like to visit the spectacular Parliament building before heading towards the ancient town of Győr. Journey across the Transdanubia region with its picturesque vineyards and orchards to visit this town that boasts medieval and Baroque charm in equal measures. In the afternoon, continue north to the capital of Austria, Vienna. The stage of classical greats Mozart and Beethoven. This will be your residence for the next 2 nights.

Day 7

An enthralling tour of the city awaits you today with your local guide. You will see the Hofburg Palace, once the winter residence of the Habsburg Dynasty. Then you will continue on to view the resplendent roof of St Stephen’s Cathedral that depicts the emblem of the Habsburgs, the State Opera House and the Ringstrasse, a magnificent, curving boulevard built in the 19th century to replace the original city walls. In the afternoon, wander the city at your leisure exploring the many cultural attractions on offer before getting ready for dinner. You may like to attend a classical concert and enjoy the city at night.

Viennese Dinner with Musical Entertainment
Enjoy dinner in an atmospheric Viennese restaurant, with drinks and traditional musical entertainment included. A unique experience in one of Europe’s most elegant cities.

Schönbrunn Palace And Gardens
The Imperial Summer Palace of Schönbrunn offers an amazing journey through the centuries of Hapsburg rule. It is perfectly preserved and richly decorated with treasures from around the globe. Each room has a story to tell, so of course, you’ll have a Local Specialist to bring it to life and VIP entrance to make the most of your time.

Dinner And Viennese Concert
A wonderful evening of all things Viennese! Enjoy a superb dinner with drinks, followed by a concert of Viennese classical music. Works by Johann Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be performed and your ‘A Class’ tickets and a complimentary glass of sparkling wine or juice during the interval will only enhance the experience.

Day 8

Travelling west to the city of Salzburg you will pass the splendid monastery at Melk in the valley of the Danube. The Wachau valley is considered one of the most fantastic river valleys in Europe. In Salzburg explore by foot the old town over the River Salzach, see the birthplace of Mozart and the glorious Cathedral Square. Relax and unwind at our hotel for the evening.

Lake and Mountain Tour
Marvel at the Alpine beauty of the Salzburg lake district, with its 76 glacier lakes and picturesque towns like Sankt Gilgen. We will also have the chance to see some of the major backdrops for the film “The Sound of Music”.

Day 9

Back to Munich in the afternoon where tonight you will enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow travelling companions and your travel director.

Eagle’s Nest Tour And Bavarian Alps
In Berchtesgaden National Park drive past farmhouses and picturesque villages as we ascend the Obersalzberg. We transfer to special busses for the second leg of the journey: a spectacular road and great engineering feat blasted out of the mountain side. Finally we take an elevator up to the Eagle’s Nest, intended as a mountain retreat for Hitler and his inner circle. Once at the top learn its fascinating history and take in the awe inspiring views of the surrounding mountain peaks whilst enjoying a local refreshments! This optional is weather dependent and subject to seasonal closures, therefore it may not be available on all departures.

Day 10

It is time to bid ‘Auf Wiedersehen’ to your travel director and travelling companions as your European tour comes to an end. Transfers to Munich Airport are available, conditions apply.

FAQ’s

What meals are included?

Breakfast is included on all overnight tours.  Lunches are not included, unless otherwise stated.  Evening meals are included when stated on the tour itinerary.  On tours of seven days or more, generally fifty percent of dinners are included.  Please check the itinerary page for exact details.

Where does the trip depart from?

Each UK trip will have a dedicated pick up point in central London.  Shorter duration trips will normally depart from Victoria Coach Station, with longer duration trips leaving from the London Reception Centre, near to Waterloo train station.  Departure points will be confirmed before booking a tour.

Can I get picked up from my hotel?

Pick up from hotels is not possible.  You will need to make your own way to the departure point.  However some tours do have a designated hotel departure, which you can stay in prior to the trip.  Please ask at time of booking for departure points and we can direct you to local hotels.

Are entrance fees included?

Entrance fees are included where specified on the itinerary.

Can I pay in dollars?

All tours are quoted and charged in pounds sterling, but you can pay using your local card and currency.  We will debit the card in pounds sterling and your bank will use their exchange rate at that time to deduct the amount in your local currency.

What time does the trip leave and return?

Departure times will vary depending on the itinerary.  European tours departing from London will usually leave between 05.00am and 07.00am.  Multi day UK tours will leave between 06.00am and 07:30am.  Day trips will depart between 07.00am and 09.00am.  European and worldwide tours that start in an overseas city will have a welcome reception on day one of the tour which is usually around 18.00pm.

Return times vary depending on the itinerary.  All the full day coach tours should be finished by no later than 19.00pm, traffic permitting.  The train tours return between 20.00pm and 22.00pm.  Longer duration trips will return between 16.00pm and 19.00pm.  All times will be confirmed at time of booking.

Is this a definite/guaranteed departure?

A definite departure is guaranteed to operate for that given departure date.  A trip that is not yet designated a definite departure is not yet guaranteed to operate based on current booking numbers.  If a trip and departure date you are interested in is not yet definite, do not let this discourage you from booking.  The more paid passengers received, the odds of the trip operating increase.  In the slim case that the operator withdraw a trip you are booked on due to a lack of numbers, you are entitled to a full refund of any funds already paid towards the tour, or if flexible with your time, we can move you onto another departure.

Who travels on these tours, who else is booked?

Whilst we can not confirm exactly who else is booked on a tour, we can guarantee you will be travelling with fellow liked minded travelers who share a passion for travel, fun, adventure and discovery.  All tours will be run by English speaking guides and age ranges will vary.  The beauty of taking a guided holiday is you’ll have the opportunity to meet and travel with people from all over the globe.

Are transfers included from the airport?

In general, if you are joining or departing your guided holiday on the first or last day, return transfers between the airport and hotel are included (excludes itineraries starting and/or ending in London).  You’ll find specific information on the itinerary’s page.

What optional excursions can I do and can I book them now?

Optional experiences are available on some tours.  These are activities that are not automatically included, but offered during your trip to enhance your travel experience.  These are all bookable whilst on the tour via your tour guide/travel director.  These are payable by cash or card.
