Originally known as the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter at Westminster, you’ll find it on Parliament Square, nestled beside the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. This grand Gothic abbey church is the traditional site for coronations. It also serves as the final resting place for 17 UK monarchs and 8 former Prime Ministers. This royal church holds over a thousand years of history and offers daily services for everyone. It is a designated World Heritage Site.

The Coronation Chair

Created for King Edward I in 1296, this chair has been the seat for the crowning of every monarch since 1308. This includes Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. It is the oldest piece of furniture in the UK still used for its original purpose.

Poets’ Corner

This literary section of the Abbey earned its name from the many poets and writers buried here. Among them are Geoffrey Chaucer, Charles Dickens, Rudyard Kipling, and Thomas Hardy.
