Windsor Castle

We avoid the queues by arriving early for a visit to the Queen’s home-from-home. Windsor Castle is a working Royal Palace and has stood on the site for almost 1000 years

The State Apartments are replete with world famous works of art by the likes of Rembrandt and da Vinci, with amazing weapons and suits of armour.

The audio guide tells you about each richly decorated room in turn. Henry VIII and his beloved wife Jane Seymour are buried in St George’s Chapel along with many other Kings and Queens of England from Edward IV to George VI.

Queen Mary’s doll’s house features miniature silverware, a tiny working kitchen and even has a version of the Crown Jewels.

Stonehenge

Next stop is one of the most famous spots in Britain – the mysterious Stonehenge, which was erected on Salisbury Plain more than 4,500 years ago.

Lacock Abbey and Village

A beautiful medieval village that is mentioned in the Domesday Book and is now owned by the National Trust. Important Information

  • The tour starts at Victoria Coach Station, Gate 19–20 (boarding from 7:30 am, departure at 7:45 am).

  • Return to London near Gloucester Road tube station at around 9:00 pm, traffic permitting.

  • On days when Windsor Castle is closed (Tuesdays and Wednesdays), the visit to the town includes a guided walk and free time. If the State Apartments are unavailable, alternatives include Queen Mary’s Doll’s House and St. George’s Chapel.

  • St. George’s Chapel closes on Sundays, with extra time provided to explore castle grounds instead.

  • If the George Inn is unavailable, a similar pub will be used. In such cases, lunch may be served earlier or as a supper.

  • Time spent at each location may be brief, given multiple destinations in one day. Please advise in advance if mobility assistance is needed.
