Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - London Eurostar, Brussels and Amsterdam

First thing this morning you will meet your Travel Director who will be your point of contact for your tour. Then you will proceed to St. Pancreas train station to board the Eurostar™ to Brussels.

On arrival in Brussels you will continue in comfort by executive coach to Amsterdam.

Once in Amsterdam you will embark on a cruise of the city’s waterways where you can get to know your fellow travellers and talk with your Travel Director.

The canal tour includes a complimentary dinner and a welcome drink.

Day 2 - Amsterdam, Cologne, Rhine Cruise and Rheinland

Cologne Cathedral is your first stop in Germany this morning where you can view this magnificent Roman Catholic cathedral at your leisure.

Then you will depart to St Goar by river cruise on the Rhine, passing splendid castles and abundant, terraced vineyards. Watch out for the Lorelei Rock so called after the mermaid of the same name who sang fishermen to their watery graves with her songs.

In the afternoon, you will arrive at your hotel where you will dine and relax into the evening.

Day 3 - Rhineland, Heidelberg, Colmar and Engelberg

Enjoy picturesque views of the River Neckar from the imposing Heidelberg Castle in the morning. Then onto Colmar, described as ‘little Venice’ where you can stroll at your leisure before taking a beautiful drive through the vineyards of the Alsace region.

Later you will traverse the border of Switzerland at Basal and head to Engelberg. Relax and unwind at your hotel for the night.

Day 4 - Lucerne Excursion

For the morning, you will take a stroll across the wooden Chapel Bridge, a 14th century covered structure containing painting on the interior. The Lion Monument remembers the mass killing of the Swiss Guards in 1792 and it well worth a visit.

In the afternoon, spend some free time shopping in the old part of town, here you will find an array of souvenirs and special chocolate made in Switzerland.

You may like to think about taking an optional experience up one of the local mountains for some fresh mountain air and some stunning alpine views.

Optional Experiences

Mount Pilatus And Lake Cruise
We’ll ascend by cog-wheel train to Mount Pilatus’ summit, where you’ll have time to explore, admire the views, and breathe the pure air. Then, we’ll descent by cable-car to enjoy a scenic lake cruise. On certain departures this option may be operated in reverse.

Alpine Farm and Carriage Ride
A chance to get to know the Swiss, you’ll meet local farmers and enjoy a delightful countryside tour in horse drawn carriages. Soak up the stunning scenery as we trot around a typical rural community, en route to a working farm where you’ll savour local drinks and snacks.

Day 5 - Engelberg, Liechtenstein and Innsbruck

Today you will drive through the Alps where you will encounter beautiful scenery and magnificent mountain vistas in the region of Liechtenstein. Enjoy the fresh, mountain air before stopping in the capital, Vaduz.

Heading across the border into Austria you will drive the mountain pass through the Tyrol heading for Innsbruck. The town of Innsbruck exemplifies Austrian architecture, look out for the ‘Golden Roof’ during your tour of the city.

Tyrolean Evening With Dinner
You’ll enjoy a delicious meal of traditional Tyrolean cuisine before a lively folklore show, where singers, dancers and musicians dressed in national costume provide an evening of entertainment and fun. Drinks are included.

Day 6 - Innsbruck and Venice

The Europa Bridge is 620 ft high and this is where your tour takes you this morning. A sight to behold and as you drive the Bremner Pass the views are awe-some and breathtaking in equal measure.

During the afternoon, you will cross countries into Italy and traverse the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains to the watery city of Venice.

For the evening, a ride in a gondola is an experience not to be missed, enjoy being punted along to the sound of Italian classical music drifting across the water.

Gondolas and Grand Canal
On arrival in Venice, a private boat will be waiting to take you to St Mark’s Square, where you’ll enjoy a gondola ride while being serenaded by local musicians. Later, private water taxi’s will take you along Venice’s Grand Canal, where you’ll admire the magnificent palazzos and Rialto Bridge.

Day 7 - Venice Orientation

Today you will be taken by a private river-craft to St Mark’s Square where you will be enveloped in the history of this splendid Byzantine City.

You will see the Bridge of Sighs and Doge’s Palace, built in the Venetian style and wonderfully Gothic.

Discover the most charming areas in the city with a Local Specialist. Wander through the labyrinth of narrow streets and beautiful squares of Rome’s historic centre, leading to highlights such as the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon, as well as hidden corners of the Eternal City.

Day 9 - Rome Sightseeing

Cross the Apennine hills through Tuscany and Umbria, to arrive in Rome today. A vibrant city offering stunning architecture, and an abundance of art and culture. A local specialist will guide you through the city today seeing the work of Michelangelo and the spectacular St. Peter’s Basilica.

Enjoy seeing the sites of this ancient city, the grand Colosseum and the famous Circus Maximus where chariot races used to take place.

In your free time, you may like to visit the Sistine Chapel and view the paintings of Michelangelo which took him 4 years to complete. You may like to spend some time shopping for Italian fashions on the Via del Corso.

Enjoy the evening at your leisure as you sit in a pavement café and soak in the atmosphere whilst having dinner and a glass of Italian wine.

Spend a light-hearted evening with us in Rome. Relax and enjoy typical Italian cuisine with drinks and music. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a drive and provide a glimpse into how Romans enjoy their city.

Inside The Vatican and Colosseum
We skip the lines at the Vatican Museums for this tour that shows not just remarkable works of art collected and commissioned over the history of the Papacy, but also Michelangelo’s amazing ceiling frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Later we hear fascinating tales of gladiatorial combat and more on our visit to the Colosseum, again with time-saving VIP entrance.

Roman Delights With Dinner
Spend an evening getting to know Rome. We’ll take you via coach where you’ll have the chance to see some of the city’s much-loved sights. Afterwards, you’ll enjoy a delicious light dinner of Italian specialities, alongside local music and drinks.

Day 10 - Rome, Pompeii and Sorrento

Explore the Campania region with a scenic drive through the Frascati vineyards.  Your local specialist will give you a guided walking tour of the Pompeii excavations where you can immerse yourself in this historic catastrophic event.

Arrive in Sorrento for the evening to unwind and relax at your hotel for the night.

Come with us for a drive along the famous Amalfi Coast. You’ll have a chance to visit the exclusive artists’ paradise of Positano, which is magnificently positioned on the Mediterranean coast.

Day 11 - Sorrento, Capri and Assisi

The Isle of Capri is your destination and you will take a ride on a funicular railway which brings you to the town of Capri. Here you will take a walking tour with a knowledgeable local guide. You will see the newly renovated Abbey of Monte Cassino high up on its rocky perch.

In the afternoon, view the acclaimed frescoes painted by Giotto at St Francis’ Basilica in Assisi.

Capri Island Cruise and Tour
Spectacular cliffs and the famous turquoise-coloured waters are best experienced with a relaxing cruise around the island to view the beautiful white grotto and unique coastline. Our cruise ends in Capri town, with picture postcard views. Enjoy a lemon granita, a speciality of the island. (This optional is weather-dependent, and may be replaced with a mini bus tour of the island to Anacapri, and a visit of the Villa of Axel Munthe.)

Day 12 - Assisi and Florence Sightseeing

On wards to Florence by passing through the regions of Umbria and Tuscany. Florence is an extremely romantic city and is considered to be the birthplace of the Renaissance. Your Local Specialist will make sure you see the sights such as the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio bridge as well as visiting Piazza della Signoria on your walking tour of the city.

Join us for a scenic drive through the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Enjoy an insight into the world of Michelangelo and his masterpiece, David. Day 13 - Florence, Pisa, Monaco and Nice

Today you will see the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa. The bell tower was not intended to lean and soft foundations are blamed for its wonky appearance. It’s the third oldest building in the Square of Miracles and is now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the afternoon, you will visit Monaco and enjoy the infamous Monte Carlo Casino.

Day 14 - Nice and St. Paul De Vence Excursion

The old, medieval town of St Paul de Vence is your destination today. The town set in the French Riviera is a haven for artists and craftspeople and a lovely place to explore. You will visit a perfumery in a nearby town before returning to the city of Nice.

Corniche Coastline Drive with Meal
You’ll enjoy a scenic excursion along the Riviera corniche roads, with spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and one of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe. Day 15 - Nice, Avignon and Lyon

To the River Rhône and the city of Avignon by its banks. See the splendid Papal Palace and the Pont d’Avignon. View the medieval broken bridge before going on to Lyon. See the famous sites of Place Bellacour and Fourvière Hill and Place Bellecour.

Day 16 - Lyon, Beaune and Paris

After crossing the magnificent Rhône Valley visit the village of Beaune. Here in Burgendy experience the main wine producer in the area and home to one of the most important wines that is produced in France.

As you drive into Paris this evening, you may like to consider seeing one of the famous cabaret shows the city has to offer.

For the afternoon, you can either take a visit to the Palace of Versailles (Optional). Or spend the afternoon wandering Paris at your leisure.

Versailles Palace And Gardens
Built for the Sun King, Louis XIV, the Palace of Versailles was the envy of every European ruler. Day 18 - Paris and London

Boarding a ferry in Calais bound for Dover say Au Revoir to Europe and then look out for the welcoming sight of the white cliffs that signify the UK.

What meals are included?

Breakfast is included on all overnight tours.  Lunches are not included, unless otherwise stated.  Evening meals are included when stated on the tour itinerary.  On tours of seven days or more, generally fifty percent of dinners are included.  Please check the itinerary page for exact details.

Where does the trip depart from?

Each UK trip will have a dedicated pick up point in central London.  Shorter duration trips will normally depart from Victoria Coach Station, with longer duration trips leaving from the London Reception Centre, near to Waterloo train station.  Departure points will be confirmed before booking a tour.

Can I get picked up from my hotel?

Pick up from hotels is not possible.  You will need to make your own way to the departure point.  However some tours do have a designated hotel departure, which you can stay in prior to the trip.  Please ask at time of booking for departure points and we can direct you to local hotels.

Are entrance fees included?

Entrance fees are included where specified on the itinerary.

Can I pay in dollars?

All tours are quoted and charged in pounds sterling, but you can pay using your local card and currency.  We will debit the card in pounds sterling and your bank will use their exchange rate at that time to deduct the amount in your local currency.

What time does the trip leave and return?

Departure times will vary depending on the itinerary.  European tours departing from London will usually leave between 05.00am and 07.00am.  Multi day UK tours will leave between 06.00am and 07:30am.  Day trips will depart between 07.00am and 09.00am.  European and worldwide tours that start in an overseas city will have a welcome reception on day one of the tour which is usually around 18.00pm.

Return times vary depending on the itinerary.  All the full day coach tours should be finished by no later than 19.00pm, traffic permitting.  The train tours return between 20.00pm and 22.00pm.  Longer duration trips will return between 16.00pm and 19.00pm.  All times will be confirmed at time of booking.

Is this a definite/guaranteed departure?

A definite departure is guaranteed to operate for that given departure date.  A trip that is not yet designated a definite departure is not yet guaranteed to operate based on current booking numbers.  If a trip and departure date you are interested in is not yet definite, do not let this discourage you from booking.  The more paid passengers received, the odds of the trip operating increase.  In the slim case that the operator withdraw a trip you are booked on due to a lack of numbers, you are entitled to a full refund of any funds already paid towards the tour, or if flexible with your time, we can move you onto another departure.

Who travels on these tours, who else is booked?

Whilst we can not confirm exactly who else is booked on a tour, we can guarantee you will be travelling with fellow liked minded travelers who share a passion for travel, fun, adventure and discovery.  All tours will be run by English speaking guides and age ranges will vary.  The beauty of taking a guided holiday is you’ll have the opportunity to meet and travel with people from all over the globe.

Are transfers included from the airport?

In general, if you are joining or departing your guided holiday on the first or last day, return transfers between the airport and hotel are included (excludes itineraries starting and/or ending in London).  You’ll find specific information on the itinerary’s page.

What optional excursions can I do and can I book them now?

Optional experiences are available on some tours.  These are activities that are not automatically included, but offered during your trip to enhance your travel experience.  These are all bookable whilst on the tour via your tour guide/travel director.  These are payable by cash or card.
