Drive thorough the quaint streets of Dublin, joining your local specialist on a sightseeing tour past the stately Georgian square and St Patrick’s, the tallest Church in Ireland. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure soaking up the charm of this city. Stop in for a pint of “the black stuff” at Temple Bar, admire the colourful performers on Grafton Street or enjoy a quiet stroll through Phoenix park. Consider joining an optional Experience this evening to tap your feet to the lively sounds of Irish music at an Irish cabaret.

Day 3

 

Ireland’s strong tradition of breeding world-class thoroughbreds is explored this morning during a Cultural Insight at the Irish National Stud Farm. Enjoy a guided walk admiring the powerful steeds that have made racing history and stroll around the tranquil Japanese gardens. We travel to the House of Waterford Crystal this afternoon for a Cultural Insight into this delicate craft where we’ll see talented master craftsmen at work in their workshop and admire the beautiful results in the showroom.

Day 4

For the next leg of your tour visit Blarney Castle where you can, like many before you, kiss the Blarney Stone and like magic pick up the ‘gift of the gab’.

By driving over the mountains of Kerry you will reach Killarney where you will be staying for the next two nights.

You and your companions will be quests for dinner on an Irish, traditional farm. A unique experience, some of these farms have been in the same family for a long time and the welcome is warm and inviting.

The astounding beauty of Iveragh peninsula accompanies us on this breathtaking coastal drive around the ‘Ring of Kerry’-a dramatic landscape of mountains, loughs and lakes that have inspired writers and poets for centuries. See Daniel O’Connells Cahirciveen, the fishing village of Waterville, the Black Valley and Mole’s Gap with the picturesque Macdillycuddy’s r’Reeks peaks in the distance.

Day 6

Drive through quaint Adare, one of Ireland’s prettiest villages, known for its picturesque thatched cottages. The imposing stone Cathedral built on the site of an old prison and Eyre Square take centre stage on our next stop in Galway where we’ll enjoy some free time to explore the city before arriving in Enniscrone, along the famous Wild Atlantic Way. This evening we dine in our hotel.

Day 7

Head north to the quaint town of Donegal with its ‘Diamond’ centre before travelling to Londonderry to stroll along its 17th century walls with a Local Specialist. Explore the “Troubles” neighbourhood of Bogside and see its murals depicting the battles of that time before continuing to Londonderry on the River Foyle where we’ll spend the night.

Day 8

Tread in the footsteps of Finn Mac Cool and along the other-worldly Giants Causeway ‘steps’ that descend into the sea admiring one of Ireland’s iconic wonders. We arrive in Belfast later and visit the Titanic Belfast visitor centre for a cultural insight into the tragic story of the famous ship that met its end in the Atlantic. The rest of the evening is ours to enjoy the vibrant nightlife of the capital of Ireland.

Day 9

Join your Local Specialist this morning for an included city tour which will take us to Queen’s University and the Baroque Revival-style City Hall. We board our ferry at Larne and cross to Cairnryan in Scotland, driving through the picturesque Ayrshire countryside en route to Glasgow, our home for the next two nights.

Day 10

Embrace fascinating Scottish culture in its cultural capital, Glasgow, meandering through the Toon to admire views of George Square and the River Clyde, which was once the heart of Scotland’s shipbuilding industry. We head to whisky country next, visiting the beautiful Glengoyne whisky distillery for a Cultural Insight into making Scotland’s favourite honey-coloured drink and a chance to sample a wee dram. Our hearts warmed, we return to Glasgow for some free time to explore the city on our own terms.

Day 11

 

Journey along the famous banks of Loch Lommond to the tragic site of 1692 massacre of the MacDonalds at the ‘Glen of Weeping’ before continuing to Fort William at the foot of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. At Glenfinnan, we see the viaduct along which Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express journeys to his school of magic and the monument to the final Jacobite Rising. Cross by ferry to the breathtaking Isle of Skye where we’ll spend this evening dining in our hotel.

Day 12

 

We leave the rugged beauty of Skye behind and venture to the picturesque site where the three lochs met. View Eilean Donan Castle before travelling along the banks of Loch Ness in search for the elusive monster that bears its name. The bloody battlefield of Culloden is our next stop where we spend some time reflecting on the many men who lost their lives in the brief but brutal battle between the redcoats and the Bonny Prince Charlies Jacobite’s. This evening we spend the evening dining at our hotel in the Scottish Highlands.

Day 13

Meandering thorough the dramatic landscapes of the Scottish Highlands, we pass the picturesque village of Pitlochry before arriving in the historic town of St. Andrews on its famous golf course that golfing greats have clambered to play centuries. We cross the scenic Firth or Forth to enchanting Edinburgh, our home for the next two nights. take to the beguiling Scottish capital this evening soaking up its warmth and conviviality with an evening of dance, music and Scottish fare. During the month of August certain departure include tickets to the Edinburgh tattoo.

Day 14

 

Spend the morning exploring this charming cityscape. Join your Local Specialist for a guided sightseeing tour including a visit to Edinburgh Castle, overlooking the city from its imposing Castle Rock vantage point. See the Royal Mile and the elegant Palace of Holyroodhouse in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat, and the new Scottish Parliament building. As our memorable holiday comes to an end, we meet our Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Farewell Dinner to reminisce over shared experiences.

FAQ’s

What meals are included?

Breakfast is included on all overnight tours.  Lunches are not included, unless otherwise stated.  Evening meals are included when stated on the tour itinerary.  On tours of seven days or more, generally fifty percent of dinners are included.  Please check the itinerary page for exact details.

Where does the trip depart from?

Each UK trip will have a dedicated pick up point in central London.  Shorter duration trips will normally depart from Victoria Coach Station, with longer duration trips leaving from the London Reception Centre, near to Waterloo train station.  Departure points will be confirmed before booking a tour.

Can I get picked up from my hotel?

Pick up from hotels is not possible.  You will need to make your own way to the departure point.  However some tours do have a designated hotel departure, which you can stay in prior to the trip.  Please ask at time of booking for departure points and we can direct you to local hotels.

Are entrance fees included?

Entrance fees are included where specified on the itinerary.

Can I pay in dollars?

All tours are quoted and charged in pounds sterling, but you can pay using your local card and currency.  We will debit the card in pounds sterling and your bank will use their exchange rate at that time to deduct the amount in your local currency.

What time does the trip leave and return?

Departure times will vary depending on the itinerary.  European tours departing from London will usually leave between 05.00am and 07.00am.  Multi day UK tours will leave between 06.00am and 07:30am.  Day trips will depart between 07.00am and 09.00am.  European and worldwide tours that start in an overseas city will have a welcome reception on day one of the tour which is usually around 18.00pm.

Return times vary depending on the itinerary.  All the full day coach tours should be finished by no later than 19.00pm, traffic permitting.  The train tours return between 20.00pm and 22.00pm.  Longer duration trips will return between 16.00pm and 19.00pm.  All times will be confirmed at time of booking.

Is this a definite/guaranteed departure?

A definite departure is guaranteed to operate for that given departure date.  A trip that is not yet designated a definite departure is not yet guaranteed to operate based on current booking numbers.  If a trip and departure date you are interested in is not yet definite, do not let this discourage you from booking.  The more paid passengers received, the odds of the trip operating increase.  In the slim case that the operator withdraw a trip you are booked on due to a lack of numbers, you are entitled to a full refund of any funds already paid towards the tour, or if flexible with your time, we can move you onto another departure.

Who travels on these tours, who else is booked?

Whilst we can not confirm exactly who else is booked on a tour, we can guarantee you will be travelling with fellow liked minded travelers who share a passion for travel, fun, adventure and discovery.  All tours will be run by English speaking guides and age ranges will vary.  The beauty of taking a guided holiday is you’ll have the opportunity to meet and travel with people from all over the globe.

Are transfers included from the airport?

In general, if you are joining or departing your guided holiday on the first or last day, return transfers between the airport and hotel are included (excludes itineraries starting and/or ending in London).  You’ll find specific information on the itinerary’s page.

What optional excursions can I do and can I book them now?

Optional experiences are available on some tours.  These are activities that are not automatically included, but offered during your trip to enhance your travel experience.  These are all bookable whilst on the tour via your tour guide/travel director.  These are payable by cash or card.
