Day 1 - London and Paris

Greetings from your Travel Director this morning before you travel through Kent to the port of Dover. See the White Cliffs as you board the ferry to Calais in France.
Travel past the poignant battlefields of the Somme and arrive later in Paris.

Day 2 - Paris Orientation and Free Time

Admire the sights on your sightseeing including views of the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Élysées. The rest of your day is free to explore the city or visit one of the
museums or attractions. This evening consider a night out at a Parisian Cabaret.

Seine Cruise And Paris Illuminations
Paris at night is a city transformed. Enjoy this superb ‘city of light’ on a leisurely cruise along the River Seine. Notre Dame And Latin Quarter

Day 3 - Paris, Tours and Bordeaux

Drive through the vineyards of the Loire Valley and stop in the lovely city of Tours for free time. Later travel to the picturesque city of Bordeaux where you will dine tonight at your hotel.

Day 4 - Bordeaux, Biarritz and Pamplona

This morning travel to the glamorous seaside resort of Biarritz. Take in views of the ocean from the promenade before heading for the Spanish border. Pass through the verdant hills of Navarra to Pamplona, famous for its annual bull run.

Pamplona Discovery With Tapas And Sangria
Enjoy a walking tour of charming Pamplona with our Local Specialist. Day 5 - Pamplona and Madrid Sightseeing (2 nights)

Spectacular Toledo: Spain’s Ancient Capital
Visit the ancient capital of Spain, which sits above the River Tagus and is home to the nation’s principal cathedral and El Greco’s famous views. Learn about Moorish and Jewish cultures, and how the area is famed for the production of Damascene work: intricate inlaid gold jewellery and craft-work.

Dinner and Discovery in Old and New Madrid
This evening you’ll have the chance to admire the elegance of Madrid’s new city, with its wide, tree-lined avenues and decorative fountains, before you experience the flavour of the old. Join the locals in a chat, and people-watch as you sip an aperitif before enjoying a delicious dinner.

Day 7 - Madrid and Barcelona Sightseeing (2 nights)

Cross the Spanish Meseta and pass Catalonia’s sprawling vineyards en route to Barcelona. On arrival your Local Specialist shows you the sights including the Ramblas and the Sagrada Familia.

St. Paul And Corniche Discovery with Lunch or Dinner
Join us on a drive inland towards the mountains to visit the historic, walled hilltop town of St. Paul – an artists’ paradise. We’ll continue along the Riviera, passing through glamorous Nice and travelling on the Corniche roads as you admire the spectacular views, before arriving at a characteristic restaurant for a delicious meal including drinks.

St Paul de Vence and Nice
A lovely drive into the Esteral Heights bring us to the quaint walled hilltown of St Paul de Vence. Our walk through the village’s winding streets with a Local Specialist reveals elegant fountains,vine-covered ramparts and interesting galleries. Then, because no visit to the Riviera is complete without it, we continue to glorious Nice to enjoy the city, its old town and colourful provençale markets.

Day 11 - French Riviera, Monaco, Pisa and Florence

Explore Monaco’s Old Town this morning before following the spectacular coastline into Italy. In Pisa view the famous Leaning Tower before arriving later at your hotel near Florence.

Starting with a lovely drive and continuing on foot, you’ll discover hidden backstreets, piazzas and fountains of the ‘Eternal City’ with a Local Specialist. Along the Way you’ll marvel at the timeless Pantheon, the best-preserved Roman temple in the world. Many additional highlights are revealed on this relaxed tour that also offers free time in a gorgeous Baroque square with street artists, trattorias and gelaterias!

Inside The Vatican and Colosseum
We skip the lines at the Vatican Museums for this tour that shows not just remarkable works of art collected and commissioned over the history of the Papacy, but also Michelangelo’s amazing ceiling frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Day 15 - Bay of Naples, Brindisi And At Sea

This morning you may consider joining our expert for an Optional Experience to the excavations of Pompeii, the perfectly preserved Roman town which was engulfed by Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in AD 79. Later travel east across Italy via Puglia to the port of Brindisi to board your overnight ferry to Greece.

Amalfi Coast With Countryside Lunch
Join us on a tour of a local farm with lemon groves, an olive mill and a wine cellar. We’ll see fresh mozzarella being made before our eyes and enjoy a lunch of authentic Neapolitan specialities, including pizza! Then it’s off to the Amalfi coast, where we’ll take in amazing views of pastel-coloured villages and see dramatic cliffs rising from the sparkling Mediterranean – all en route to the chic beach resort of Positano for free time.

Discover Pompeii
Join our expert on a tour of the excavations of Pompeii, the perfectly preserved Roman town which was engulfed by Mount Vesuvius’ eruption in AD 79. You’ll witness the devastating destruction it had at the time, as well as the opportunity to go back in time and get a glimpse of everyday Roman life, frozen for almost 2,000 years.

Day 16 - At Sea, Patras and Athens

Arrive in the port of Patras in Greece and continue by road to Athens.

Day 17 - Embark Piraeus - Mykonos

Board your ship in Piraeus harbour and cruise to stylish Mykonos. Enjoy a few hours here before the cruise continues.

Myconian Countryside tour with Hora & Little Venice

We’ll set off from Mykonos’ largest town Chora with our local expert and stop at the beach of Ornos, a picturesque fishing harbour, then on to the small beaches of Agia Anna and Kalafatis. Afterwards we’ll visit the traditional village of Ano Mera and the monastery of Panagia Tourliani, founded in 1542. The pretty village square is a perfect spot for a short break. Returning to Chora we’ll stop at Paraportiani, a famous whitewashed church complex. A few metres down we’ll visit the Mykonos Folklore Museum, which is housed in an old two-storied merchant baron’s house. We’ll continue towards the “Little Venice” of Mykonos, Alefkandra, with its windmills and the almost otherworldly sunsets where our trip culminates.

Day 18 - Kusadasi - Patmos

Arrive early this morning at Kusadasi and enjoy an included Shore Experience to the incredible ruins of Ephesus. Sail to Patmos with time to perhaps visit the Fortress Monastery of St. John.

Optional Experiences 

Patmos Countryside Tour with Hora And Grotto Of Apocalypse

We visit Patmos a UNESCO “World Heritage Monument” and enjoy a panoramic guided tour of the island, a magical visit to the Grotto of the Apocalypse, where it is said St John the Apostle wrote the Book of Revelation. We reach the medieval town of Hora to enjoy a leisurely walk, marvel at the views of the Monastery of St John the Evangelist, and culminate our tour at Scala the port of Patmos where we enjoy a welcoming coffee, tea or refreshment.

Day 19 - Heraklion - Santorini

We arrive in Heraklion this morning and have the opportunity to explore Crete’s Minoan culture and heritage at the Palace of Knossos, before continuing to the island of Santorini for an included Shore Experience to the spellbinding village of Oia.

Minoan Palace of Knossos – 1st European Civilization

The ancient city of Knossos the residence of the wise King Minos and the Minotaur, with constant habitation from the Neolithic era until the 5th century A.D., is beyond doubt the land that “gave birth” to the first civilization of Europe, the Minoans. The palace of Knossos spreads around a large Central Court. You will reach the awe inspiring Throne Room, the fresco of the “Prince of the Lilies”, the imposing Grand Staircase, the Queen’s Megaron. Walking through the apartments of Knossos Palace and observing the finds even as passers-by, and the information from your local specialist, will make you feel part of this cultural heritage.

Day 20 - Return Athens (Piraeus)

Admire the sights with your Local Specialist including a visit to the Parthenon, Acropolis as well as seeing the Temple of Zeus. In Patra board your ship for an overnight cruise to Ancona.

Day 21 - At Sea, Ancona and Bologna

Arrive at Ancona and travel to Bologna. Dine tonight at your hotel.

Day 25 - Lucerne Orientation and free Time

Mount Pilatus And Lake Cruise
We’ll ascend by cog-wheel train to Mount Pilatus’ summit, where you’ll have time to explore, admire the views, and breathe the pure air. Then, we’ll descent by cable-car to enjoy a scenic lake cruise. On certain departures this Optional may be operated in reverse.

Day 26 - Lake Lucerne, Heidelberg and Rhineland

Marvel at the mighty Rhine Falls at Schaffhausen before crossing the border over into Germany. Pass through the Black Forest and make your way to the university town of Heidelberg. View the imposing red sandstone castle towering above the city before making your way to the hotel.

Day 27 - Rhineland, Rhine Cruise and Amsterdam

Dinner In A Historic Dutch House And Canal Cruise

What meals are included?

Breakfast is included on all overnight tours.  Lunches are not included, unless otherwise stated.  Evening meals are included when stated on the tour itinerary.  On tours of seven days or more, generally fifty percent of dinners are included.  Please check the itinerary page for exact details.

Where does the trip depart from?

Each UK trip will have a dedicated pick up point in central London.  Shorter duration trips will normally depart from Victoria Coach Station, with longer duration trips leaving from the London Reception Centre, near to Waterloo train station.  Departure points will be confirmed before booking a tour.

Can I get picked up from my hotel?

Pick up from hotels is not possible.  You will need to make your own way to the departure point.  However some tours do have a designated hotel departure, which you can stay in prior to the trip.  Please ask at time of booking for departure points and we can direct you to local hotels.

Are entrance fees included?

Entrance fees are included where specified on the itinerary.

Can I pay in dollars?

All tours are quoted and charged in pounds sterling, but you can pay using your local card and currency.  We will debit the card in pounds sterling and your bank will use their exchange rate at that time to deduct the amount in your local currency.

What time does the trip leave and return?

Departure times will vary depending on the itinerary.  European tours departing from London will usually leave between 05.00am and 07.00am.  Multi day UK tours will leave between 06.00am and 07:30am.  Day trips will depart between 07.00am and 09.00am.  European and worldwide tours that start in an overseas city will have a welcome reception on day one of the tour which is usually around 18.00pm.

Return times vary depending on the itinerary.  All the full day coach tours should be finished by no later than 19.00pm, traffic permitting.  The train tours return between 20.00pm and 22.00pm.  Longer duration trips will return between 16.00pm and 19.00pm.  All times will be confirmed at time of booking.

Is this a definite/guaranteed departure?

A definite departure is guaranteed to operate for that given departure date.  A trip that is not yet designated a definite departure is not yet guaranteed to operate based on current booking numbers.  If a trip and departure date you are interested in is not yet definite, do not let this discourage you from booking.  The more paid passengers received, the odds of the trip operating increase.  In the slim case that the operator withdraw a trip you are booked on due to a lack of numbers, you are entitled to a full refund of any funds already paid towards the tour, or if flexible with your time, we can move you onto another departure.

Who travels on these tours, who else is booked?

Whilst we can not confirm exactly who else is booked on a tour, we can guarantee you will be travelling with fellow liked minded travelers who share a passion for travel, fun, adventure and discovery.  All tours will be run by English speaking guides and age ranges will vary.  The beauty of taking a guided holiday is you’ll have the opportunity to meet and travel with people from all over the globe.

Are transfers included from the airport?

In general, if you are joining or departing your guided holiday on the first or last day, return transfers between the airport and hotel are included (excludes itineraries starting and/or ending in London).  You’ll find specific information on the itinerary’s page.

What optional excursions can I do and can I book them now?

Optional experiences are available on some tours.  These are activities that are not automatically included, but offered during your trip to enhance your travel experience.  These are all bookable whilst on the tour via your tour guide/travel director.  These are payable by cash or card.
