Day 1 - Ayrshire and Isle of Arran
Setting off from Edinburgh, you’ll journey west past Glasgow and the Whitelee Wind Farm, the largest wind farm in Europe.
Heading into the countryside to Ayrshire where you’ll stop at the 18th century Culzean Castle. Wander through the castles stunning gardens set on a dramatic cliff top setting and admire the wonderful architecture and its beautiful interior. You may lunch in the café on site or picnic within the landscaped grounds.
Leaving behind Culzean Castle, you’ll travel towards Robert Burns’ birthplace and discover the places and inspiration for his poems and songs. Stopping at the Alloway Visitor Centre you’ll learn the life history of Scotland’s national treasure.
Your next destination is Ardrossan where you set sail to the Isle of Arran. Once disembarking you’ll be taken to your accommodation in Brodick where you can spend a pleasant evening exploring.
Day 2 - Arran Distillery, Machrie Moor and Brodick
Today is your day of choice and you have many options on how you’d like to spend it. Dependent upon the weather and the interests of your touring group, your driver will arrange a wonderful day which suits you all.
Your choices include exploring the mountainous north of the island, Lochranza Castle, Arran’s beautiful beaches or maybe sample a whisky at the Arran Distillery.
Part of today will involve a trip to Machrie Moor and its six prehistoric stone standing circles. You’ll then continue the tour to the coastal village of Blackwaterfoot.
Heading back to Brodick you’ll view The Holy Isle across the water, owned by the Samye Ling Buddhist Community.
You may wish to stop at the Arran Cheese shop, a world-renowned family owned business.
Also in Brodick, you’ll discover its beautiful red sandstone castle and Arran’s microbrewery whose products can be tasted in many of Arran’s wonderful establishments. Take the evening at your leisure and spend the night in your comfortable accommodation.
Day 3 - Kintyre Peninsula, Tarbert and Inveraray
On the final day of your tour, you’ll be collected after breakfast and take a return ferry back to the Scottish mainland of the Kintyre Peninsula.
Travelling along the coastal road stopping at the charming harbour village of Tarbert. This lovely village is built around the East Loch Tarbert where fishing boats are moored.
Leaving Tarbert you head to the whitewashed village of Inveraray, here you’ll have some free time to wander and enjoy some refreshments. Setting off after lunch you continue over the ‘The Rest and be Thankful’ mountain pass and then a short drive to Luss and the famous Loch Lomond with its ‘bonnie, bonnie banks’. Finally, you’ll end your tour back in the bustling city of Edinburgh.
