Full details below, but first some brief history of magnificent historic Bath,

Bath is a city in England’s ceremonial county of Somerset that got its name from its Roman-era baths. In 1987, the city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and in 2021, it was included in the transnational “Great Spa Towns of Europe” World Heritage Site. The largest city and community in Somerset is Bath.

Although hot springs were known before the Romans constructed baths and a temple in the Avon River valley in 60 AD, the city gained its Latin name Aquae Sulis (“the waters of Sulis”) and became a spa. Originally established as a monastic site in the seventh century, Bath Abbey underwent reconstruction in the twelfth and sixteenth centuries. The water from the springs was said to have therapeutic qualities in the 17th century, and Bath gained popularity as a spa town throughout the Georgian era. The Royal Crescent, Circus, Pump Room, and Assembly Rooms are examples of Georgian architecture made of Bath stone. From 1705 until his death in 1761, Beau Nash oversaw the city’s social life in these spaces.

John Wood, the Elder, planned out many of the streets and squares, and the city’s population increased and it became fashionable in the 18th century. Early in the 19th century, Jane Austen called Bath home. In the 19th century and after the Bath Blitz during World War II, more construction was done. After being a part of the county of Avon in 1974, Bath has been the main hub of Bath and North East Somerset since Avon was abolished in 1996.
