What weather can I expect on my Day Tours in England
7th February 2022
One of our most asked questions is; what weather can I expect on my Day and Multi-Day Tours of England / Britain.
Well the simple answer is ‘This is England’ and so the weather is mostly all year round is quite changeable and varies year to year.
Before packing for your trip it is worth considering what Best Value Tours you may want to consider, particularly those visiting ‘outside’ locations such as Stonehenge as example. This is found in rural Wiltshire on a raised / exposed elevation and it is generally colder there than London. The wind in particular can be quite a bit colder than London, so do prepare in advance to maximise your enjoyment when touring.

When is the best Season to take a tour?
Well in general there is no ‘best’ season to tour in England / Britain, all year round is good to go, as long as you are aware of likely weather conditions and you are suitably prepared.
Britain enjoys 4 seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. Mostly Winter is chilly, temperatures can drop below freezing, it can be wet and sometimes even snow. Spring and Autumn are mostly mild or even warmish and the summer can be hot, but not exceptionally hot as you might find in other parts of Europe, say Spain as example.

Weather forecasting in Britain is pretty good and can be quite accurate up to 30 days before and 7/14 days before even more accurate, so it is wise to check these on the tv news, on-line or in a newspaper.
What you need think about is where you are likely to be going. Foe example Scotland, Ireland and Wales are generally colder and wetter than England. Cities are generally warmer than rural locations and do particularly look out for rural locations that maybe exposed, for example the stunning rural Cotswolds.
The main thing to look out for and be prepared for is changes during the day, even in summer it can go from sunny to rain, quite quickly and it is wise to pack a lightweight waterproof top, just in case. Also if you are touring anywhere outside, especially on grass, for example at the magnificent Blenheim Palace comfortable shoes, preferably waterproof will very much enhance your day.
Apart from that a spare top, like a jumper or fleece in Spring, Autumn and maybe a light jumper in summer is a good idea, even in summer the temperature can drop later in the day into evening.

Stonehenge is found on a raised / exposed area of rural Wiltshire and can be colder than London
Probably the most important factor to think about, if staying in say London, is how different will the weather be touring to locations outside London, particularly rural locations like Stonehenge which is a good example. Rural Wiltshire is generally 2-3 degrees centigrade (5-7 degrees farenheight) colder than London and the one thing that most commonly catches people out is the wind, in winter know as the wind chill factor, this can make a location such as Stonehenge feel significantly colder than the cities.
We hope this information has been helpful and wish you a great time touring Britain.
